wwd declares pop-up shops so 2009

everyone knows fashion is about change... so does its marketing strategy!!

what once a hottest marketing concept in 2009 - pop-up stores, according to heidi klum always says in the "project runway", 'in fashion, one day you're in and the next day you're out.' this trend has not yet hit into taiwan, and today wwd already declares pop-up shops is soon out in fashion??!!

The pop-up shop is running neck-and-neck with the fast-fashion designer collaboration for retail trend of 2009. It's getting to the point where you can't swing a Proenza Schouler for Target handbag without hitting a new one. We feel reasonably secure that you've seen some coverage about pop-up shops over the past year, but today WWD investigates whether pop-up shops are a viable long-term trend, or just another irritating fashion novelty whose novelty has worn off.

There are plenty of reasons to open a pop-up shop: building buzz, introducing new products, inspire impulse purchases, or to try out a neighborhood before making an expensive real estate investment. And we'll cop to a certain number of impulse purchases along the lines of, "OMG, must buy before the store goes away!" But there are so many pop-up shops these days that it's not really exciting anymore when a new one opens, so some of WWD's experts think the trend won't last when the economy improves.

Cacharel president Jean Bousquet says: "The ideal duration of a pop-up store is six months. I don't think this phenomenon will be successful after the recession is over. It's extremely linked to the economic downturn and will probably lose momentum in the future once economic indicators become positive." The trend gaining steam over the brick-and-mortar pop-up appears to be the online pop-up sale, like the ones held by Gilt Groupe and TheOutnet.com, which recently hosted a Balmain sale. Saks and Neiman Marcus both held recent 2-hour sales designed to get consumers to stop thinking about purchases and actually buy something. And Ikea will be having one on December 26.

balmain tornado

::: rihanna & victoria beckham

::: michael jackson(god of fashion) & hong kong actress carina lou

::: beyonce & taiwanese singer - a-mit

::: oak nyc velvet jacket for $110

::: pixie market pointy jacket for $412(sold out)

breaking news!! powerful tornado-balmain is violently ruling fashion world

some trend is just a fad, last for 1~2 months and got replaced by evolved style or totally different trend... but some trend can be influencial which became an inspiration of the season, espeically when it also comes with hola of celebritiez.

franch eccentric luxury brand - balmain itself is a killer... ( one of my favorite designer!!!!)
edgy design with unfriendly price shows its distinctive target customer: rich ppl with style
stylish, trendy and glamous with highly recognizable signature is one of the reason created balmain tornado in fashion.

a-list celeb-fashionistas, michael jackson, kate moss, rihanna, beyonce, gwyneth paltrow and lilo all wear balmain military jacket... oriental fashionable actress, carina lou, also attend events with its jacket or dress.. a-mit finally got a stylist with taste and surprisingly dress her with a balmain jacket.

a jacket priced 3grand~8grand something is not affordable for average ppl, an inspired one is always an option, zara 09aw has one!! (please see zara lookbook) also provided some other options from my favorites online stores: oaknyc n' pixie market

"it"department store - printemps has asked the mentioned designers to create a dress for alice and will be displayed at the window display when the movie is on. c-a-n-t w-a-i-t!!

sonia rykiel pour h&m @ paris

sonia rykiel pour h&m collection show is totally astonishing.. it is very glamous with a bit infusion of victoria secret show.. actually, the show is more like a sexy, adult version of disneyland parade to me..

still remember went to disneyland when i was kid. watching the dazzling parade, the princesses, the fairies and the wonderland set, tells the magic part of disneyland, the beauty of fairy tales..
sonia rykiel for h&m surely nailed down that fancy, seductive mood with her satin, silk lingerie line...

necklace & belt || ss10

::: kenzo→rm by roland mouret→dsquare→bottega venetta→rm by roland mouret
::: ann demeulemeester→iceberg→paul smith→hermes→lamb→balenciaga

ok, so that is all for ss10 trends...

it's really about say goodbye to gloomy autumn/winter, and just relax and enjoy beautiful spring/summer. it can be loose or fit, but has to be short! short proportion is one of the main key. body-concious element allows weman to show sexyness as a female, also light fabric can creats softness and litheness.

toy story - spongebob squarepants vs. bob qui qui qui

fashion is officially invade into one of the most popular, naive(?) neckolpodean kids cartoon - spongebob squarepants (dah-lun~~)

here is the karl lagerfeld version of spongebob.. still with sqare shape but in a white shirt that fits with the power symbol of uncle karl- black leather glove and black shades.. what differs from uncle karl is that big, shinny laugh on the face..

it was won for 1000euro at a bidding auction for fundraising event for wwf.

this combines all my favorites - chanel creative director, fav cartoon, and i'm a memeber of wwf.
